- Accuracy:
1.Steel ruler: The accuracy is relatively low. Generally, the minimum scale is 1mm. It is more suitable for measure objects which the accuracy requirement is not high.
2.Vernier caliper: It has high accuracy and the reading is 0.1mm, 0.05mm, and 0.02mm.
- Measurement range:
1.Steel ruler: The measurement range is large and can measure long objects. Generally, the measurement range is from 0 to 1000mm.
2.Vernier caliper: The measurement range is relatively small. Generally, the measurement range is 0-300mm.
- Measurement function:
1.Steel ruler: It is mainly used to measure length and width.
2.Vernier caliper: It can not only measure length and width, but also can measure the inner diameter, outer diameter, and depth of an object.
1.Use oilstone or sandpaper: According to the material and the degree of wear, you can choose oilstone or sandpaper. Place the oilstone or sandpaper on a flat ground, then grind the measuring surface gently.
2.Use grinding paste: According to the material and degree of wear, you can choose grinding paste. Put the grinding paste on the measuring surface, and apply it evenly with a clean cloth, then use a grinding tool ,such as a grinding rod, to grind it gently.
3.Note that the grinding should be in same direction and to avoid back-and-forth grinding. After grinding , you should check it with a magnifying glass or microscope to ensure the repaired measuring surface is good and can measure accurately. You should operate it very carefully to avoid damaging when you repair it. In addition, in order to prolong the service life of vernier caliper, you should clean it and paint anti-rust oil on it timely and avoid to measure too hard or too soft objects.
