Feature

Compared with traditional vernier caliper , stainless steel digital vernier caliper features an additional digital readout screen which shows measuring result in a very quick and direct way. The screen cover of digital caliper has many shapes and material, such as metal cover and plastic cover. Inside the screen cover is battery which can be easily replaced. It provides basic function of 4-way measurements like inside, outside, step and depth dimensions.

The stainless steel digital vernier caliper has four buttons, each performing a specific function.

On/off button, users can turn on and turn off digital caliper. And usually caliper would automatically turns off after several minutes of not using.

Zero button sets the current measurement to zero at any position. After setting the zero position, there is no need to readjust the starting position of the caliper every time during measurement. A lot of time can be saved, and the efficiency of the measurement work can be improved.

Inch/Metric button enables users to switch metric and imperial reading at any position. The metric-imperial conversion function can help workers and technicians flexibly convert between different unit systems, avoiding mistakes caused by errors in unit conversion.

These three buttons are commonly equipped on each stainless steel digital vernier caliper. Apart from these normal buttons, we are able to provide digital calipers which stand out for certain function such as hold button, origin button, absolute button and mode button. These buttons help users make precise and versatile measurements in various applications.

FAQ

1. What is a digital caliper used for?

  • Basic Length Measurement: Stainless steel digital vernier calipers can accurately measure the length of objects, such as the dimensions of mechanical parts and the length of plates. Their resolution can usually reach 0.01mm or even higher. For example, when processing small precision parts, they can accurately measure whether the length of the parts meets the design requirements. In furniture manufacturing, they can precisely measure the length of wood to ensure the accurate dimensions of all parts of the furniture.

  • Inner and Outer Diameter Measurement: It is also very convenient to measure the inner and outer diameters of circular objects. In mechanical processing, they are used to measure the outer diameter of shaft parts and the inner diameter of holes. For example, in automobile manufacturing, when measuring the outer diameter of engine pistons and the inner diameter of cylinders, digital calipers can quickly obtain accurate measurement data and allow for direct reading, reducing the errors in manual reading.

  • Depth Measurement: They can measure the depth of grooves, holes and so on. In mold manufacturing, they are used to measure the depth of mold cavities to ensure the precision of the molds. For example, the depth of the cavity of an injection mold is crucial to the molding quality of plastic products. Digital calipers can accurately measure the depth value and provide accurate data support for the manufacturing and adjustment of molds.
2. How do I know when my calipers need replacing?
  • Increase in measurement error: If you found that the deviation between the measurement results of the digital caliper and the standard gauge block values exceeds the precision range and the normal precision still cannot be restored after multiple calibration operations, this is a clear signal that the caliper needs to be replaced.

  • Unstable precision: When measuring the same object several times under the same measurement conditions, the measurement results have big difference. Under normal circumstances, the measurement stability of digital calipers is relatively high. If large fluctuations in measurement values occur frequently, it may be that the sensors, transmission mechanisms or electronic components inside the caliper have malfunctioned, affecting the stability of precision. In this case, replacement should also be considered.

  • Failure of button functions: When the buttons of the digital caliper malfunction, such as the "ON/OFF" button failing to turn the caliper on or off normally, the "ZERO" button being unable to reset to zero, the metric-imperial conversion button "mm/in" failing to switch units correctly, or the function buttons (such as the tolerance band setting, relative measurement conversion and other function buttons) being unable to perform their corresponding functions, it will seriously affect the normal use of the caliper. If these button problems are caused by damage to the internal circuits or aging of components and cannot be repaired, the caliper needs to be replaced.

  • Abnormal display: Situations such as garbled characters appearing on the display screen, numbers constantly flashing, some numbers being missing, or the display brightness significantly weakening will lead to difficulties or inaccuracies in reading. This may be due to problems with the display screen itself or faults in the internal circuits of the caliper. After simple repaired (such as replacing the battery), if the display problems are still, replacement should be considered.

  • Wear of measuring jaws: The measuring jaws of the digital caliper are the parts that directly contact the measured object and may wear out after long-term use. If the measuring jaws are severely worn, it will affect the accuracy of measurement.

  • Deformation of the caliper body: Due to reasons such as being impacted by external forces, being stored unreasonably for a long time or being used in harsh environments, the body of the caliper may deform. Deformation of the caliper body will change the measurement reference and make the measurement results inaccurate.

  • Unsmooth operation: If the caliper frame moves with jams, is too loose or too tight, it will affect the convenience and accuracy of measurement operations. This may be caused by reasons such as wear of the guide rails inside the caliper frame, foreign objects entering or poor lubrication. After simple treatments such as cleaning and lubrication, if the problem still persists and seriously affects the user experience, replacement of the caliper needs to be considered.

  • Excessive battery consumption: If the battery consumption speed of the digital caliper increases significantly under normal usage conditions and there is no improvement after replacing the battery with a new one, there may be problems such as leakage in the internal circuits of the caliper. Frequent battery replacement not only increases the usage cost but may also affect work efficiency. In this case, replacement of the caliper can be considered.
